Wood Canes, Walking Sticks AND Leather Tooling

Find a new hobby and try out some unique crafts! This class will teach you how to develop a design and tool into leather. Students will be introduced to basic stamping and carving tools and their use, as well as painting, staining and finishing leather. Then students will shape, decorate and build a personalized walking stick or cane. Students will use carving tools, leather, yarn, rope, string, feathers, brass tugging, wood burners, torch, stain and finish to create a personalized walking stick. All ages 8 years and up are welcome (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult).

Class is held at the Mistlin Gallery, 1015 J Street on Saturday, April 5, 2014 10am-4pm, with a lunch break. The cost is $45, plus $10 material fee paid to the instructor). Pre-registration is required.
