After much delay, the Turlock Regional Transit Center is having their grand opening event today at 10:00am. The event will be held at its location where Golden State Blvd., Hawkeye Ave., and Dels Lane intersect.
Construction began in August 2011 with a projected finish date of March 2012, however due to weather conditions it was pushed back. Now after one year, the transit hub is ready to serve Turlock residents. The hub will be useful for all residents but especially younger students hoping to attend classes at Modesto Junior College.
Funding came primarily from the federal stimulus money (2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act). About $1.5 million came from this, while an additional $362,700 came via Proposition 1B.
