Turlock High Graduate, Tom Brandstater Cut?

Turlock High and Fresno State alum, Tom Brandstater may find himself at the short end of an NFL career. At the start of OTA’s, Brandstater was listed as the 3rd quarterback on the Denver Bronco’s depth chart. However, this changed when Tim Tebow, the highly touted rookie from University of Florida, overtook Brandstater for the 3rd spot.

Tom Brandstater was drafted in the 6th round of the 2009 NFL Draft. After performing well during the preseason games, Bronco’s head coach Josh McDaniels, relegated Brandstater 3rd in the QB depth chart behind Chris Simms and Kyle Orton. Last season, he did not move out of this spot as Orton was the clear #1 quarterback.

With NFL prototypical size, Brandstater was seen as many as the next Tom Brady. Both are from California. Both were drafted in the 6th round and both had T.B. as their initials.

Entering his 2nd season in the NFL, Brandstater may see his days in the NFL about to come to an end. Most teams do not carry four quarterbacks into the season with a 53 man roster size.
