Stockton PRIDE Festival 2012: 1st Annual Event at Oak Grove Park

Stockton will host its first Stockton PRIDE Festival 2012 at Oak Grove Park on Saturday, August 25th 2012. The one-day event will celebrate all things gay.

Below is the organizer’s press release.

For the first time in Stockton, our local LGBT community will come together at a festival to celebrate diversity and educate the public about the importance of respect, tolerance and equality.

The family friendly event will feature a children’s play zone, a teen dance tent and local cultural performances. In addition, live bands will grace the main stage and a dance party will take place from 5 to 7 pm with regional and global DJs participating. Tentatively scheduled to appear are the world renowned San Francisco based DJ David Harness (confirmed), who has worked on projects for artists such as Mary J. Blige, Simply Red, Alicia Keys and *NSYNC. Also, Sacramento area rock band Rendezvous with Cool Beans, and DJ percussionist, dance and musician troupe JAMBALAYA.

From arts & craft booths that celebrate our LGBT community to delicious food and a beer garden to quench your thirst, the volunteer-led Stockton Pride Festival Committee hopes you will join us at our Stockton Pride Festival.

Announced sponsors to date include PG&E, Big Monkey Group Publishing, Entravision Communication and Live209. San Joaquin Pride Center Executive Director, Nicholas Hatten, says, “I am excited to be working with our business partners in putting on what we hope to be an annual tradition for not only our LGBT people but for the entire community. I will be announcing additional sponsors as the festival nears.”
