Modesto, CA- Modesto Police Officers assigned to the Crime Reduction Team witness a daytime burglary at a local restaurant. Two are in custody as they tried to escape the business.
On August 21st investigators from the Modesto Police Department Crime Reduction Team were at the Uno’s Chicago Grill when they were told by a waitress that two customers were leaving without paying for their lunch.
Officers stopped the two individuals who were identified as Shawn Sample 41 years of Escalon and Kristie Sibley 29 of Oakdale. Investigators began to look into the non payment of the food and found that Sibley attempted to pay for the meal with a credit card that was not her own. When the card was declined Sibley and Sample left the business without making any other attempts to pay for the food.
As officers searched Sample’s vehicle they found a loaded stolen handgun, drug paraphernalia as well as stolen property from a local department store. Officers also found that Sibley was wanted out of Oakdale for burglary, possession of a controlled substance and theft.
Sample was booked into Stanislaus County Jail for Burglary, conspiracy and ex-felon in possession of a firearm. Sibley was booked for burglary, conspiracy and the outstanding warrants from Oakdale Police.
The Modesto Police Department Crime Reduction Team is responsible for investigating incidents involving Alcohol Beverage Control, Graffiti, Housing Authority, Drug and Nuisance Abatement and Habitual Transient Offenders. Sgt Tait of the Crime Reduction Team stated that Sample and Sibley appear to be responsible for other crimes out of the Oakdale area and they are working collectively with Oakdale Police involving yesterday’s case.
