Modesto’s Celebration of Lights Holiday Parade

The City of Modesto invites you to our annual Celebration of Lights Parade.  Every year on the first Saturday in December, the City of Modesto’s Downtown becomes home to the Celebration of Lights Parade, a cherished community event where classic cars, various community organizations, marching bands and many more decorate their vehicles and floats in holiday lights and take to the streets.

Start the day off by joining Santa for breakfast at the Senior Citizens Center, 211 Bodem Street from 8:00am to 11:30am.  You’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast followed by a visit with the big guy, crafts and music.  Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture this special moment!

From 9:00am to 3:00pm, enjoy the McHenry Mansion Foundation’s Dickens Faire and the Modesto Certified Farmers Market on 15th Street between I and J Streets.  You’ll be taken back in time to the Victorian Era as you are greeted by costumed carolers at the McHenry Mansion decorated in Christmas splendor.  Fresh produce, nuts, cheeses, baked goods and more… take a step back in time and enjoy the sounds, scents and sights of Christmas past.  There will be a variety of children’s activities available.

Finally, the grand finale! Join thousands for the big Holiday Parade.  This year’s theme is Holidays in Whoville: A Tribute to Dr. Seuss.  Join the Grinch, Santa and more in downtown Modesto from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.  The parade begins at the corner of 15th and I Streets.  Mark your calendar for Modesto’s biggest holiday tradition!
