Modesto, CA– Modesto Police detectives are investigating the discovery of a man found deceased in a home. Police are treating this case as a homicide.
On Sunday, September 23rd, at about 8:44 A.M., Modesto Police Officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of Maple Street, in west Modesto, for a report of a deceased male discovered in a home. When police officers arrived, they spoke to the new renters of the home, who had called the police.
Officers learned when the new renters arrived to the home this morning to move in, they had discovered the dead body of a male adult inside. The renters immediately called the police to report the discovery. The new renters were going to rent part of the home for themselves and sublease a room in the home to a male adult who had already been living in the home. It is believed the deceased victim found was the male the renters were going to sublease to. The victim’s identity will not be released until confirmed through the Stanislaus County Coroner’s office and the victim’s next of kin has been notified.
Preliminary investigation appears the deceased male victim suffered from a physical assault. Investigators are in the initial stages of this case and crime investigators are actively processing the crime scene, canvassing the neighborhood and interviewing potential witnesses. At this point in the investigation, police have limited investigative leads and are asking for the public’s assistance.
