On Friday, March 29th, Modesto’s popular indie music concert show, Off The Air will finally come to an end. Founder Greg Edwards introduced the show to Modesto residents almost exactly 8 years ago. Edwards has since moved to Oakland and may continue the show in some form in the EasyBay area.
According to the blog post at the organizer’s website (offtheair.net), Edwards stated,
However, this doesn’t mean Off The Air is over as I plan to continue my efforts via Off The Air Recordings and live-music events in the EastBay where I would be honored to have your ongoing love and support….
I love you, Modesto. You are in my heart forever—a permanent tattoo. Keep growing, challenging yourselves, creating top-shelf music and art and being straight up awesome. I’ll always consider you to be my hometown and am proud to wear that emblazoned on my sleeve.
Friday’s show will feature Ripon’s French Cassettes with special guests’ from Waterford/Oakdale/Turlock The Airlings and Merced’s Awahnichi. Doors will open at 7:00pm and the show should kick off at 8:00pm at Deva Café on 1202 J Street in Downtown Modesto. Cost will be $5 and all ages are welcomed.
