Get ready for a trip around the world at the 25th annual International Heritage Festival on Oct. 1. The fun starts at 11 a.m. with an opening ceremony which includes a colorful parade of flags with participants in beautiful international dress. Children and families will travel the world through music and dance with free performances throughout the day. New this year are Aztec dancers and Japanese drummers. For foodies there’s the international food court with dishes from the Philippines, France, Vietnam, and Puerto Rico. Plus, there’s linguica and kettle corn. Visit Kids World for make-and-take crafts, an art wall, and, of course, the popular passport color books for kids to collect stickers and stamps from the heritage displays which represent various countries. The Great Valley Museum will also be on hand. Children can also visit with the Modesto Nuts mascots and learn about instruments with the Modesto Symphony’s Instrument Petting Zoo.
