It has been announced this week that San Jose-based supermarket chain, Mi Pueblo, will cease operations at the Paradise Road location in Modesto, CA starting in July 2012.
The Mexican-themed supermarket, whose customers get an earful of Mexican mariachi music once entering the store, said the main reason they are not renewing their lease is that the present location is too small for their needs. They feel that they have outgrown the present location after 15 years being there.
The 85 employees who are currently working at the Paradise location are expected to be moved to other nearby Mi Pueblo supermarkets. In addition, the chain is planning to open a new store in Turlock, CA at the intersection of West Main Street and South Soderquist Road.
