With the continuation of high gas prices, Modesto Area Express (MAX) announced today that it will join with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the eighth annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 20. The slogan of this year’s Dump the Pump Day is “Save Money on Gas. Ride Transit.”
The 2013 National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation, instead of driving a car, and save money. Started in June 2006, when gas prices were $3 per gallon, this national day emphasizes that public transportation is a convenient and affordable travel option.
MAX is currently offering “Free Ride” coupons in the Modesto Bee. MAX will welcome new riders and thank our regular riders as we offer coupons for free bus rides. The coupons are good for bus rides on MAX within Modesto until July 6.
Now that gas prices are close to $4 per gallon, saving money is on everyone’s minds and public transportation is the best way to beat the high prices.
