Massage Parlor Inspection Operation

On July 10, 2013, Turlock Police Detectives conducted a compliance check on two local businesses offering massage services. Detectives were accompanied by agents from the Employment Development Department, Department of Labor Standards Enforcement, as well as the Turlock Fire Marshal and Building Inspector.

The operation was conducted to ensure the businesses were complying with all state laws and local ordinances that address the safety of patrons and employees. The Police Department had also received information that the businesses were involved in activities related to prostitution.

After complete inspections and interviews with employees, owners and clients, a total of five citations were issued between the two businesses. Violations included: failing to keep records of treatments, employing unlicensed masseuses, as well as various fire and building codes. The investigation into vice activity is on-going.

The Turlock Police Department is dedicated to the safety of all citizens and plans more of these types of operations in the future.
