JaMarcus Russell Arrested For Codeine (Cough) Syrup = “Purple Drank”, Another Dumb Mistake By Russell

JaMarcus Russell was arrested today for possession of codeine syrup. Codeine syrup is a popular prescription drug used mainly with promethazine to help patients with coughing. According to a tweet by Jerry McDonald, who writes a Raider’s blog for Bay News Group, Russell may have been taking prescription codeine for awhile. He writes:

Wish I had a dollar for every time I got an e-mail or a tip about Russell and prescription cough syrup…

Russell, the former Oakland Raiders quarterback, whose career is cut short due to laziness and inability to play at the highest level in the NFL, posted a $2,500 bail after being arrested around 4:30EST.

He was arrested because he did not a prescription for the drug. Codeine syrup is the main ingredient in a popular elixir that ghetto people in the south like to drink called “Purple Drank”. It is a mixture of codeine syrup, promethazine, 7-Up and/or Dr. Pepper, and Jolly Ranchers. Many famous rap stars has taken purple drank and had died from it.
