Home Invasion Robbery Suspect Arrested

Modesto, CA- A suspect in a home invasion robbery was arrested after being identified through fingerprints he left behind.

On Monday November 18, 2013 officers investigated a home invasion robbery in northeast Modesto. Through evidence collected at the victim’s residence, Modesto Police ID Technician Erin Gonzales was able to identify a suspect with a fingerprint match.

On Wednesday, at approximately 3:20 PM, Officers located the suspect and his passenger driving in the area of Standiford Ave and McHenry Ave. As officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the suspect sped away. Officers followed the vehicle to Tully Rd and Pelandale Ave where the suspect ran a red light and collided with another vehicle in the intersection.

Officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect and his passenger. Stolen property, including a handgun, was located inside the vehicle. The suspect was identified as Steven Mines, 22-years-old of Modesto. Mines was arrested for several offenses including home invasion robbery, conspiracy, kidnapping and parole violations.

Also arrested was passenger Amonte Jones, 21-years-old of Modesto for parole violations.
