deluxeThe Deluxe Ice Cream Company, based in Salem, Oregon, which was bought by Modesto-headquartered Foster Farms in 2010, has decided to close its doors forever.
Foster Farm’s representatives cited that it would cost them “millions of dollars” to remodel the Salem facility so closing the 80 year-old company was the best option. According to sources, 100 employees are being laid off, with 75 being full-time positions.
The laid-off employees were recommended to apply for other Foster Farm’s positions, with many of them based in California. It would not be surprising that only a handful will get rehired by the same parent company that laid them off.
