The “Clean Our Stanislaus River Day” 2012 is set for September 15. The event will be from 9am to 12pm. And it is aimed to join together and remove trash and recyclable from nearby rivers in and around Stanislaus County. This is part of a state-wide effort in cleaning up the various rivers, streams and coastlines that makes California a beautiful place to live in.
Registration for the event will be held at 8:30am and organizers recommend volunteers to bring sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes and signed waiver.
In an effort to make the cleanup fun, there will be prizes awards for various things. Prizes will be rewards to people who pick up the most trash, one who has the most unsual trash item, one who has the best trash sculpture, one who has the biggest one trash item and one who has the heaviest trash item.
There will be 4 main cleanup sites. They are Caswell State Park near Ripon, Oak Grove Park near Ripon, Jacob Meyers Park near Riverbank and Stanislaus River at Oakdale Shopping Centre (Highway 120 (North Yosemite Avenue) and Stanislaus River).
There will be a barbecue after the event at Jacob Meyers Park near Riverbank.
