Citibank Afternoon Robbery in Northeast Modesto

Modesto, CA- Modesto Police are investigating a bank robbery in northeast Modesto and are requesting the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On Monday August 27th, at about 3:22 P.M., employees at Citibank, located at 1340 Oakdale Road, reported a bank robbery. The suspect entered the bank, armed with a shotgun, and demanded money from the teller. Once the suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency, he fled the bank. The suspect was last seen running southbound in the parking lot.

Modesto Police officers arrived on scene and began to set a perimeter around an adjacent residential neighborhood. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Helicopter and a Modesto Police canine unit also assisted with the search. The police canine was used to track the suspect down an alley and to a vacant residence in the 1300 block of Sunland Way. Officers checked the residence and the canine continued to track to the front roadyway of the residence, where the trail ended. It appears the suspect may have fled in a waiting vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, about 5’-8” tall and weighing about 150 lbs. He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and wearing a ski mask, which concealed his face.
