The Carpenter Road Bridge over the Tuolumne River will be closed to all traffic beginning Friday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m., and will reopen on Monday, August 26 at 7:00 a.m. Detours will be in place directing northbound traffic to use Whitmore Avenue and southbound traffic to use Paradise Road. All commercial trucks and vehicles must use the detours. Hatch Road and Robertson Road will remain open for local traffic.
Construction crews will be working 24 hours per day during this period of the bridge closure. The contractor will be sensitive to the noise restrictions during these working hours. This bridge closure and extended construction working hours will accomplish the City’s goal to limit traffic delays and complete this project as quickly as possible.
Flyers will be distributed to residents with properties in the vicinity of the bridge notifying them of the closure. Electronic message boards and detour signs will be in place to alert and direct motorists. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and pay attention to signage. Drivers should expect to use alternate routes when possible to avoid delays.
