modesto-captain-americaModesto, CA– Modesto Police officers are looking for a suspect who was armed with a gun and wearing a super hero Halloween mask as he robbed two Modesto businesses on Monday.  Police are asking the public’s help in identifying this armed bandit.

The first robbery occurred on Monday, December 10th, at about 2 P.M., at the Check ‘N’ Go Cashing located at 1717 Oakdale Road, in northeast Modesto.  The suspect, who was wearing a “Captain America” Halloween mask, entered the business, brandished a handgun and demanded money.  He then walked behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash from a register.  The suspect then exited the business and was seen fleeing in a white passenger vehicle, possibly a Ford Focus.

As officers were investigating the Check ‘N’ Go Cashing robbery, a second robbery was reported at about 2:30 P.M., at the William Douglas Jewelry store, located at 3020 Floyd Avenue, also in northeast Modesto.  Employees at the jewelry store reported a suspect armed with a gun and also wearing a “Captain America” Halloween mask entered the business and demanded money.  The suspect was able to take an undisclosed amount of money from the business before fleeing in a white passenger vehicle, possibly a Ford Focus.

The suspect description in both robberies is similar and investigators believe the suspect to be one and the same.  He is described as possibly a Hispanic male adult, in his mid-20s to 30s, standing 5’8” to 6’ tall, and having a heavy set build.  He was wearing a grey hoodie sweatshirt, black pants, and a “Captain America” Halloween mask.
