Modesto, CA-On August 31, 2013 at about 12:30 p.m., three suspects were observed by an officer fleeing the scene of an armed robbery at Union 76 on Coffee Rd and Orangeburg Av.
Officers, passing by the gas station, saw what appeared to be a struggle with several subjects in the parking lot. Three suspects got into a PT Cruiser and fled the area. Officers attempted to stop the car, but the vehicle failed to yield. A brief pursuit ensued, ending in Allen Ct, where the suspects fled the area on foot. Two suspects were immediately taken into custody. In an attempt to locate the third suspect, a perimeter was established and a K-9 track led from where the vehicle had stopped, to the front door of a residence in the 1200 block of Kurt Av.
When officers approached the residence, they could hear yelling inside. A few minutes later the rear door opened and the third suspect, Solomon Chavez, 26-years-old of Ceres, was seen looking out. After several verbal commands, Chavez exited the residence and was taken into custody. It was later determined that Chavez forced his way into the residence and the yelling was coming from a juvenile telling Chavez to leave.
Also arrested were Gabriel Bara, 28-years-old of Salida and Chad Goodwin, 33-years-old of Turlock.
