$120 Million Jackpot: Mega Millions Winning Ticket Sold In Riverside, CA

by Charlie Thai on September 12, 2012

MODESTO, CA – Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the September 11th events. There’s a bit of irony that the $120,000,000 Mega Millions jackpot had the number “11″ theme to it.

The winning numbers are 5, 11, 20, 33, 36 and mega number 11. The winning ticket was sold at 7-11 3740 Iowa Avenue Suite 11 Riverside, CA 92507. Many conspiracy theorists believes that the lottery is rigged. Because after-all what are the chances of this happening? Let’s just hope that this isn’t the case.

The lucky winner will take home $92,000,000 if he or she decides to take the cash option. After the 25% federal tax, the total will be $69,000,000. In California, there isn’t a state tax on lottery winnings. So the $69 million is the take-home pay for the lucky winner. However, if the winner decides to go with the annuity option, he or she would take home $3,461,539 per year for 26 annual payments for a grand total of $90,000,014.

In addition to the jackpot winner, California produced two “2nd” place winners, where the player matched 5 of the 5 numbers, except the mega number. Each California winner will take home $220, 648. The winning tickets were purchased at Five Points Petro in Huntington Beach and Cole’s Market in Pleasanton.
